Hello Uncle,

It was delight reading this account. The narrative is extremely well written and while reading this, I could visualize everthing scene by scene.

I do hope you will share other interesting events and anecdotes from your past.

Look forward to reading them.

Dear Kapil Bhargava- This may come as a complete surprise to you and take you back over 50 years ago. Today while browsing the internet, I came upon your articles and immediately recognized your name. We were your neighbors in Kanpur and I remember your daughter "Mala". My father now deceased was W/Cdr Rawson. Please write and I will update you on the whereabouts of my family. Would like to connect with you again. I live in Seal Beach, California and the US has been my home for about 40 years.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for the extra info about how to contact Great Pilots of IAF through e-mail. I just want to correct myself in my previous e-mail(above), by mistake I put the wrong centre for PABT. Actually it was in AFSB Varanasi.

Thanks a lot Sir,

Kind Regards

Dear Samsher,

If you want to know more about the Indian Air Force (IAF), I strongly recommend that you should visit http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/

You can spend many hours at this site. Apart from almost complete information about IAF, there are a huge number of articles and photos on it. Many officers' writing is sorted year wis3e.

Once you read these, if you have the time, you can contact some of the authors to ask them questions, provided of course if they are available. It would be best to ask the site's webmaster for email addresses of the writers.

This suggestion is for everybody who has an interest in the Indian Air Force. There are no restrictions or hitches in visiting this site.

With best wishes,
Kapil Bhargava

Hello Sir,

My father was in IAF, and I spent my childhood, school days, and college days with only one dream of becoming a fighter pilot, I have no idea but I wanted to be a pilot of Jaguar (must be matching with my name - shamsher). Your real life article reminds me about how I used to be so much in love with IAF and still got that same passion. More than studies I was involved with scout and guide, ncc, and other defence related activities. My hometown Allahabad and cleared my PABT from 34 SSB there, but regret of life that unfortunately couldnt make it to this lovely service. I am in New Zealand now from many years but love for IAF and a/c is still fresh and growing each day. Your article reminds me my childhood and schooling at different Air Forces bases of India. I have high regards for you Sir.

Salute to you and I am fortunate to communicate with you.

Regards

Dear Cheeni,

Thanks for your kind comment on my submission. I have notlooked but I think many military people in Inida have written about their WW II experienes. Of course the literature, particulalry from the 1948 war for Kashmir onwards is quite extensive. This might reinforce my view that writing of the past not being available via the Internet might not reach enough readeers, particulalrly outside India.

With best wishes,
Kapil Bhargava

Thanks Jagan! The idea is good and maybe the spirit is willing but the flesh? A book seems too much hard work for little benefit. Also it might actually end up having a smaller readership.

But thanks for the kind thought. Who knows, where I will get to as some stories build. I wonder how many people undertake to write their first book after their 81st birthday.

I enjoyed the writing and the experiences. I don't mean to detract from the wonderful prose, but there aren't too many first hand experiences anywhere from India about this period, so that makes this all the more special.
